About NuttZo

-
How did NuttZo start?
From Danielle, Owner and Founder of NuttZo:
“Fitness and nutrition have always been an integral part of my life. After adopting two boys from Ukraine who were nutrient-deficient, I became even more focused on preparing creative, flavorful, super-nutritious foods. NuttZo is a powerhouse of nutrition blended into a delectable butter. I’m honored to share it with you and your family.
Adoption was a life changing event for my husband and me. After meeting so many of the beautiful orphaned children while adopting our two sons, we founded Project Left Behind, a 501c3 non-profit organization focused on providing education and living essential to orphans. I am so pleased to announce that NuttZo is a proud supporter of Project Left Behind.” -
How much does NuttZo donate to its non-profit, Project Left Behind?
To date, NuttZo LLC has donated over $100,000 to Project Left Behind. NuttZo also assists in fundraising for PLB through volunteer trips, special events, and corporate partnerships. More than $320,000 has been raised for the homes of orphaned and neglected children.

Product Questions
-
How do I store my nut butter?
We recommend first stirring your nut butter really well with a butter knife and then feel free to store your jar at room temperature so that it is easier to spread or put it in the refrigerator if you think it will take you more than a couple of weeks to consume; this will keep your nut butter tasting fresh, longer. (Hint: Our Chocolate NuttZo has the consistency and taste of fudge when you chill it!)
-
Why did NuttZo switch to plastic jars instead of glass?
We loved the glass jars too!! Unfortunately, our co-packer that packed our product in glass for more than eight years went out of business forcing us to find another co-packer. After much diligent searching, the only co-packers we have found that meet our standards are ‘glass-free’ facilities and will ONLY produce our product in BPA-free, PET plastic. It has been a challenging transition for us and we are so grateful to our loyal fans for sticking by our side as we navigate these manufacturing challenges.
-
Is NuttZo packaging BPA Free?
NuttZo prides itself on finding the best quality products we can find and that includes the factories we produce in, to the packaging it’s put in. The substances used to manufacture our jars are free from the chemicals Bisphenol A (BPA), Bisphenol S (BPS), polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and ortho-phthalate plasticizers (commonly known as phthalates). Because of this they are considered BPA-free, BPS-free, PVC-free and ortho-phthalate-free. Based on our current knowledge of the raw materials and processes used in the manufacture of our jars, we have no reason to expect these substances to be present in this product.
-
Does NuttZo or its packaging contain any type of PFAs?
We are proud to say we are PFA free!
-
Why do I see white pieces in my Chocolate NuttZo?
Baby it's cold outside! Are you seeing white blooms in your NuttZo? It looks different! It’s not moldy! When it's cold out, the cocoa butter in the chocolate forms different size crystals and shows as a fat bloom on the surface. We know it looks concerning but your NuttZo is still perfectly good. With a little friction/stirring it will melt right back into the butter! Enjoy!
-
Why do oils separate and how do I stir them back in?
NuttZo is all natural, so the oils do separate. The process of oils and solids separating, known as syneresis, is completely safe. It’s just really irritating. Before you dump the oils down the drain (Please don't! These oils are the good kind for your body) we have some easy tips to stir your product.
1. If the oils have separated and solidified in the winter months (it can look white and clumpy at the top), submerge your jar in very hot tap water for 15-30 minutes.
2. Next, use a butter knife to make holes in the nut butter paste. The nut butter paste will start to combine back into the oils. Once you’ve knocked all the paste into the oils stir into a creamy butter (this may take patience and some muscles - but it's worth it!).
3. Refrigerate or store in cupboard lid-side-up once opened and stirred. No need to stir again. (You must stir the product before you refrigerate)
OR - Use one beater in a hand mixer or an immersion hand blender to blend the oil and nut butter back together.
OR - Flip the jar every other day before opening. This will begin the process for you on its own!
Don't forget - to avoid messy oils spilling out of the jar: store your unopened jar upside down. This lets the oil settle to the bottom of the jar and the nut butter solids stay on top. When you’re ready to spread, turn it right-side up and open the lid slowly. The majority of the oil should be on the bottom of the jar.
-
Why is the label on upside down?
NuttZo’s label is on upside down not just because we think its eye-catching but also because we want it stored on its lid while sitting on the store shelves waiting for you to purchase it. The natural oils then separate to the bottom of the jar which is really the top and this makes for NO mess when you finally open it at home and stir in all that nutty goodness.
-
Why is my NuttZo different in chunkiness and texture?
Because a lot of our steps to making your yummy NuttZo is by hand, it creates an inconsistency in the chopping and grinding of NuttZo. Each jar has the same amount of the seven nuts and seeds but it may vary on chunkiness and thickness from jar to jar. Remember, it’s a jar made with love every time.
-
Why do NuttZo bars need to be refrigerated?
NuttZo bars need to be refrigerated because we don’t add any emulsifiers and the oils would start separating at room temperature. Also there are no preservatives in our bars so the bars could start to taste rancid after two weeks.
-
What kind of Chocolate is used in NuttZo Organic Chocolate Power Fuel?

Are the peanuts, nuts, and seeds roasted or raw?
All our tree nuts for our NuttZo butter products are dry roasted, so no oil is used to roast them.
One of the reasons we roast our nuts and seeds is to keep them free from pathogens. The dry roaster is what we use for nut butters. We roast at 309 F for 9 to 12 minutes depending on the nut and moisture. Every batch of NuttZo is tested in a private lab. We are committed to safety and giving you the highest quality ingredients.
-
Where do your nuts and seeds come from?
All of our nuts and seeds are Non-GMO, unpasteurized and roasted. We source our nuts and seeds from various farmers around the world in order to maintain our high standard of quality.
-
What is Prop 65 and was NuttZo tested?
Proposition 65, officially known as the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, was enacted as a ballot initiative in November 1986. The law requires businesses to inform Californians about exposures to chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. Proposition 65 requires the state to maintain and update a list of chemicals known to the state to cause cancer or reproductive toxicity.
NuttZo takes product safety seriously, and tests samples of our products for certain chemicals that could be found in our products. Many of the chemicals on the Proposition 65 list are chemicals that are naturally occurring in the environment and present naturally in foods, like lead, or form naturally during the cooking or roasting process, like acrylamide. NuttZo does not do anything to add acrylamide or heavy metals, like lead, to our products.

-
Does NuttZo use any natural flavorings in Bold BiteZ or other products?
Nope. Never. We don’t believe in it. The original source of ‘natural flavors’ must be plant or animal material. However, natural flavors are typically highly processed and may contain many chemical additives. In fact, natural flavors usually aren’t much different than artificial flavors in terms of chemical composition and health effects. From a health and safety standpoint, we think the best best is to avoid foods with natural or artificial flavors by choosing fresh, whole foods whenever possible – like NuttZo!
